It arose from the visionary idea of Max Buchner to bring chemists and engineers together for ‘fruitful collaboration’ – at a time when both disciplines still belonged to separate worlds. This bold vision continues to form the core of its identity to this day and shapes its role as a platform, a source of inspiration and a reliable partner.
Today, DECHEMA stands for exchange on an equal footing, for interdisciplinary collaboration and for the continuous transfer of scientific findings into industrial practice. It plays an active role in shaping the issues of the future – from sustainable production processes and digitalisation to the energy and resource transition.
