This session focuses on semantic interoperability in materials science and engineering, with an emphasis on the PMD Core Ontology (PMDco) and its practical use within the community. The workshop introduces the concepts, tools, and processes within PMDco and is structured into two blocks:

• a morning intro block (9:00–12:00) covering the conceptual foundations of ontologies and an overview of PMDco, and
• an afternoon hands-on block (13:00–15:00) focusing on practical ontology modeling.

The hands-on session is intended to support participants in learning how PMDco can be reused, extended, and applied in concrete application scenarios.
