Current research collaborations of the BMBF's Material Hub Initiative

With Module I, Materials for Process Efficiency, the BMFTR is funding the development of innovative catalyst and membrane materials. The novel or optimised use of these materials is intended to make processes that produce energy and CO2 more efficient and sustainable.

Research consortia in Module 2, Material innovations through sustainable use of raw materials (2025–2029), have set the goal of reducing the use of primary raw materials, decreasing dependence on critical raw materials, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions in material production. In addition, negative impacts on people and the environment are to be minimised.
